Historic flooding along the Grand River continues to have a big impact in Lowell Saturday evening.

Based on the most recent projections by the National Weather Service, Lowell City Manager Mark Howe doesn’t anticipate that power will have to be shut down for Lowell Light and Power customers east of the Flat River.

The recent advisory anticipating a potential shut down has been lifted.

The National Weather Service predicts the river will begin to recede in the Lowell area by 2pm Sunday.

As of right now, the following roads are still impacted by flood waters

  • M-21 (Main Street) east of the Flat River in the City of Lowell remains closed
  • Jackson Street and the bridge over the Grand River remains closed
  • Hudson Street could be limited to one-lane as the river continues to rise Saturday evening into Sunday morning

City leaders encourage people to stay away from problems areas until flood waters recede.
