The Red Cross of West Michigan is opening shelters throughout the region for those affected by the flooding at the following locations:

KENT COUNTY

These shelters will help residents who have been forced out of their homes because of flooding by offering a safe and warm place to stay. The Red Cross is in communication with emergency management to see where any additional shelters may be necessary. Those seeking shelter are encouraged to bring the following items if possible: appropriate bedding and blankets and pillows, prescription medications, personal hygiene items, a change of clothes, and any necessary items for infants or the elderly.

If residents need assistance with evacuation, they are encouraged to call 9-1-1.
