LOWELL, Mich – Police officers and firefighters are working to determine the cause of a deadly house fire in Lowell Sunday evening.

Crews arrived to heavy smoke pouring from the home in 700 block of Grindle Drive in Lowell Township around 10:15 p.m.

Only one person, a middle aged man, was inside the home.  First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

A Michigan State Police Fire Investigator is assisting with the investigation to help determine a cause.  Crews on scene tell FOX17 the majority of the fire damage was contained to the living room area of the home where the man was found.

An autopsy will be performed to help determine a cause of death.  It’s unknown at this time whether the fire itself or a medical condition played a role.

No other injuries were reported at the scene.
