ANN ARBOR, Mich- Students at the University of Michigan held a one-of-a-kind disaster training event this week. On Tuesday, dozens of students and faculty members dressed up as zombies to raise awareness about disasters and other catastrophes.
Dr. Eden Wells, who is the one who organized the event, says that while real zombies don’t exist, this was a way to open the dialogue about emergency preparedness. “This exercise couldn’t come at a better time with the bombing in Boston and explosions in West Texas, the message is be ready for anything,” says Wells.
Organizers encourage everyone to be ready for a disaster by having a supply of food and water on hand.
After the 90-minute exercise was done, those taking part in the event danced to Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
