Trooper Randy Gariglio IONIA, Mich. – A Michigan State Trooper helped reunite a little girl with her dog Monday morning.

Lindsey Hamm, 9, wanted to meet Trooper Randy Gariglio after he saved her dog , Snowball, aka “Diva”.

According to Gariglio, a 14-year veteran with the MSP, the beige and white Pekingese Corgi mix was on Riverside Drive around 10 a.m. Monday. Diva was underneath his patrol car and he and a colleague had to pull the dog out and place her in the back-seat.

Diva was then placed in an animal shelter and animal control officer Gordie Douglas had already heard about the missing dog after Lindsey’s family had called about her disappearance.

The family was away for the weekend and when they had returned to their home in Canterbury Estates around 7 p.m. Sunday, their two dogs were missing and their front door was open.

Milo, a 7-year-old Jack Russel, was found just two doors away, but the Hamm family posted all over Facebook and other social media sites still looking for Diva.

The family continued to search until around 10 p.m. and then called it a night.

Rachelle, Lindsey’s mother, then got the call from the animal shelter Monday morning that Diva had been found and was okay.

Diva had a couple of puncture wounds in her neck and a burst blood vessel in her eye. However, she was treated by a vet and is expected to recover.
