Search Warrant Produces Heroin Seizure & 5 Arrests

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A sizeable quantity of heroin was seized and five people were arrested when police raided a Kalamazoo residence Wednesday evening.

On Thursday evening, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety announced that at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team officers were investigating a concerned citizen’s tip that drug activity was occurring in the 2200 block of Luella Street in Kalamazoo. A search warrant was obtained and officers conducted a raid of the residence.

Durng the raid, the officers found a 33-year-old Kalamazoo man pulling into the driveway. They detained him and then found six other adults and several small children inside the residence during the raid.

While searching the residence, officers discovered a large amount of heroin packaged for sale, a large amount of marijuana, drug scales, packaging equipment and other evidence of drug trafficking.

The 33-year-old Kalamazoo man was arrested for possession with intent to deliver heroin, maintaining a drug house and on an outstanding warrant.

A 25-year-old woman residing in the home was arrested for possession with intent to deliver heroin and maintaining a drug house.

A 24-year-old Kalamazoo man was arrested for possession with intent to deliver marijuana and on an outstanding warrant.

A 37-year-old Kalamazoo man was arrested for possession with intent to deliver heroin.

A 22-year-old Kalamazoo man was arrested for resisting and obstructing and on two outstanding warrants.

All five of the arrested individuals are being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail awaiting arraignment.
