042813radar4GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Rain showers are moving across West Michigan this morning. Some areas north of I-94 have seen little to no rain while areas along the Indiana border have seen some more moderate rainfall. Dry air around and north of the Grand Rapids Metro area will limit how much if any rain falls. The system is starting to move to the east and will gradually move out of West Michigan in the next 3 or 4 hours.

The forecast becomes quite challenging as we head into next week. Rain chances will likely be on and off for a majority of the work week as we have a few passing systems move through that will bring in the possibility of showers and thunderstorms.

Temperatures will continue to warm for the first half of the week with high temperatures climbing into the 70’s by Monday afternoon. Rain chances will increase late Monday afternoon and continue through the evening and overnight. A round of thunderstorms in the morning Tuesday will likely lead to clearing in the afternoon in many areas. Areas around West Michigan who stay completely dry and sunny Tuesday could see temperatures approaching 80 degrees.

The end of the week becomes much more difficult. A storm system will be cut-off from it’s steering currents and becomes incredibly difficult to forecast. As of this morning the storm system is forecast off to our west putting West Michigan on the warm side. The forecast path will likely change in the next few days as our weather forecasting models struggle to predict its path. We will keep you updated on the changes throughout the week.
