WalmartWHITEHALL, Mich. — After weeks of controversy, a decision as to whether or not a Wal-Mart Supercenter can move into Whitehall is expected to come down today.

During a Whitehall Township Planning Commission Meeting on Apr. 24, about 100 people voiced their concerns, and made it clear that they did not want the 126,000 square foot store to move into their backyard. Wal-Mart officials were present at the meeting as well, and commission members listened to their proposal.

Members of a resistance group, called BOW NOT, have said that a large Wal-Mart would negatively impact locally owned businesses.

A Wal-Mart official released a statement saying they think customers always appreciate having more affordable options close to where they live or work.

FOX 17 will be sure you update you when that decision is made.
