MUSKEGON, Mich. — A good-sized crowd showed up for Wednesday night’s second of three statewide public information meetings dealing with fracturing to develop gas and oil reserves.

The meeting was at Muskegon Community College and featured presentations by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. They outlined how the state leases and oversees development of gas and oil deposits while protecting the environment and public health.

The Muskegon meeting followed a semilar gathering Tuesday night in Troy. There also will be a get-together Thursday in Traverse City.
