GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — More than 100 volunteers, health care workers and educators will participate in a two-day mock disaster training session at Grand Valley State University.

The exercise will take place May 2nd and 3rd. It will test the use of Grand Valley’s Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences as an alternative care site for Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in the event of a large-scale disaster or epidemic.

High school students from the Health Sciences Early College Academy will play the role as patients and will be assisted by Grand Valley nursing and health professions students.

Clinical operations will be led and monitored by Spectrum Health staff.

During this mock disaster drill, faculty and staff members are asked to park in the Pew Campus Seward parking ramp and take the DASH Shuttle to CHS. Click here to see the DASH schedule.
