HAZEL PARK, Mich- A 9-year-old near Detroit is being called a hero after he helped police put a pair of robbers behind bars.
It happened on Sunday in Hazel Park. WJBK reports that a man and his girlfriend were at home when a pair of men forced their way into their home and held them at gunpoint.
As the suspects began going through the home, police say a 9-year-old who was hiding in an upstairs closet jumped out the window and ran next door for help.
“He came over in a panic, and he needed 911. I had to sort out from the panic all the stuff that he was trying to get done,” said neighbor Richard Lavely.
The neighbor called 911 and police arrived to make the arrests. The suspects in this case are now facing several charges including armed robbery and first degree home invasion.
The little boy is being recognized by police for his bravery, he also got a shopping trip out of the ordeal.
