New Video of VanNORTON SHORES, Mich. — A man who identified in a tip and questioned by police in the abduction of Jessica Heeringa was released around midnight Wednesday night.

Norton Shores Police Chief Dan Shaw told FOX 17 before the release the man might undergo a polygraph test, but there was no word whether that happened.

Thursday morning, Chief Shaw said his people talked to the man for six hours before his release, but they will talk to him again. “We’re going to want to talk to this person some more to verify his whereabouts Friday evening, to see if he was somehow involved or if he did see something.”

Shaw said his department has talked to a number of people since Heeringa disappeared April 26. “We’ve been doing this a lot over the past five days.”

A tip led to the man, who was driving a similar minivan to the one being sought, being pulled over and taken in for questioning.

Investigators say the man has not been cleared yet in the investigation.

Shaw encouraged more tips. “Every lead we can check off the list is one step closer to finding Jessica.”
