NORTON SHORES, Mich. — Six days and still no sign of a Norton Shores mother alleged to have been abducted.

Jessica Heeringa, 25, has been missing since April 26, when she vanished from the Exxon Mobil gas station on Sternberg Ave. in Norton Shores. Heeringa was finishing up a shift when she was abducted, police say.

In the days since, hundreds of tips have poured into the Norton Shores Police Department. Chief Daniel Shaw says those tips have led to the questioning of about 25 people.

But some individuals are trying to crack the case on their own.

“We have citizen investigators out there who are chasing down cars they see as well to get a license plate for us,” Shaw says. “Although I appreciate their effort, I don’t want anyone doing anything that might harm them. Don’t get in a road rage incident with someone because you’re trying to get a license plate number for us.”

“We did hear that some people were following silver vans,” Diane Homrich, Heeringa’s grandmother, says, “and we’re really worried that somebody’s gonna get hurt, and we – of course – don’t want that to happen at all.”

But nobody will turn down any help if it gets Jessica Heeringa home.

“It’s just gonna take that little bit of information,” Homrich says. “Maybe something somebody doesn’t consider important. Don’t keep it to yourself.”
