MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. – Hoffmaster State Park in Muskegon County remains open following an investigation into gun shots heard in the area.

Norton Shores Police Chief Daniel Shaw said investigators arrived at the park Thursday afternoon after a man went to the Norton Shores Police Station claiming he heard gunshots and spotted a van matching the description of the vehicle which could be linked to the Jessica Heeringa disappearance.

The shot may be linked to a gun range in the area, Shaw said, but investigators still need to thoroughly investigate the tip.
