GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Most of the day Thursday will again be very warm and dry, but a few isolated showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop in the afternoon through early evening.

A combination of a lake breeze and a weak surface boundary will be just enough to allow a few storms to pop up, primarily between the lakeshore and U.S. 131.  Areas around and north of Grand Rapids appear to have a better chance of rain than those to the south.

That lake breeze will likely cause temperatures to drop Thursday afternoon for areas along the lakeshore.  We may very well end up with highs around 80° inland, while readings fall back into the 60s at the lake in the afternoon.

A few more scattered showers are likely during the day on Friday, but an upper-level low will stay far enough away from the region that significant rainfall is not expected through the weekend.  In fact, only a slight chance of a few showers exists for Saturday and Sunday.

Temperatures should remain mild into next week, with some pleasant conditions on the way for at least the first half of the week.
