Palisades Power Plant Shut Down

palisadesSOUTH HAVEN, Mich- The Palisades Nuclear Power Plant has been shut down due to a water leak.

Palisades officials told Fox 17 News that the plant was removed from service this morning to conduct inspections and repairs to the safety injection/ refueling water tank.

Plant operators shut the down the plant when water leakage from the tank exceeded a threshold. Palisades will be returned to service when inspections and repairs to the water tank have been completed.

Plant officials say the plant is in a safe and secure condition and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has been notified of the situation. There is no impact on the health and safety of plant employees or the public.
