Pedestrian Struck By Car; Died At The Scene

Ottawa CountyMARNE, Mich- A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed this afternoon around 3:30 p.m. on 24th Avenue near Cleveland St. just north of Marne in Ottawa County.

Aero Med arrived at the scene and then left, because the victim had died.

Sheriffs’ say 55 year old Jeffery Looman of Walker was headed west on Musketawa Trail and did not stop at the 24th Street intersection, at which point he was hit by a southbound car driven by a 56-year-old Coopersville man.

The vehicle could not stop in time and struck Looman. Looman was then thrown into the ditch

According to Ottawa County Sheriffs’ the victim had serious head injuries and died at the scene.

Looman was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The accident is still under investigation.

    Is the picture used in this article the actual vehicle owned by the 56 year old man from Coopersville who is at fault in this case, or is the picture being used from a different situation? Where was this picture taken and when?

    How was the driver at fault? The story clearly states that the man on the bicycle failed to stop. Both the driver and the bicyclist are victims in this tragic accident. Prayers for both of them.
