GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — The ribbon cutting will happen today for a new exhibit about former president Gerald R. Ford’s life.

“Growing Up Grand” opens Tuesday at 9 a.m. Ford family members will cut the ribbon. Former U.S. Ambassador to Italy Peter Secchia and former Secretary of the Treasury Paul O’Neil (deputy director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budgets during Ford’s administration) will also speak.

The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum will be open and free to the public all day, and cake will be served to celebrate. It’s all part of the celebration of what would have been Ford’s 100th birthday in 2013. A full year of events are planned, and his actual birthday is July 14.
