NORTON SHORES, Mich.– From the ground to the air, this community isn’t giving up hope in finding Jessica Heeringa. Doug Purdue, flight instructor at Executive Air Transport out of Muskegon County’s Airport says they have been keeping a close eye on anything suspicious, or any sign of that silver mini van.

“We want to see her come home just like anybody else. We can all imagine the pain the family is going through if there was any way we could have possibly been a part of solving that we would have loved to have done that.”

For pilots, Purdue says it’s a civic duty every time they take off to help when they can, especially when it hits this close to home.

“We’re always keeping an eye open it’s how we trained. Our students both in the air and looking at the surface and looking on the ground. By nature most pilots are very curious anyway so they’re always keeping an eye on what’s going on down there, what do they see.”
