GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. —  After several days in the 70s to low 80s to start the month of May, temperatures will be much cooler over the Mother’s Day weekend.

An area of low pressure will continue to drag scattered light to moderate rain showers through West Michigan early in the day Friday.  Things will gradually dry out during the afternoon and evening, but with temperatures that will hold steady in the low to mid 50s and a bit of a northerly breeze.

Friday night and much of Saturday will remain mostly cloudy, but quiet.  Participants in the River Bank Run will likely stay dry, with only a few passing showers expected as a cold front moves through around midday.

Clearing will take place behind the cold front, but that will allow for even chillier conditions Saturday night and Mother’s Day Sunday.  A significant frost or even a hard freeze is possible especially north of Grand Rapids Sunday night.

Temperatures will bounce back by the middle of next week with highs near 80°.  You can check that out in the 7 Day Forecast on the Weather page.
