FRUITPORT, Mich.– It’s during the hardest times, when you find the best in people and the support of the community over the past 2 weeks for Jessica’s family has been remarkable. It only continued Saturday at a benefit fundraiser for the Heeringa family.

“We all just felt like there`s something we needed to do and if we had the venue to do it we should.” Erin Trattles, a server at the “Little Brown Jug” in Fruitport has never met Jessica or her family but she has a lot in common with the young mom, working late nights and doing whatever she can to support her family.

“All of us girls have 2 and 3 year olds and when we go home we just can’t imagine how he’s feeling.”

To get things going she turned to social media, “within 25 minutes of me putting this on Facebook I had the DJ donating his time so excited to do that. Area businesses have just literally been coming out in droves whatever they can to donate, gift cards, merchandise, guitars I mean just everything.”

From 50/50 raffles to bumper stickers, all of the money raised is going to help Jessica’s family in the search.

For her grandma, Diane Homrich she says it’s what keeps the hope alive “it warms my heart that like you say most of these people don`t really know Jessica but they know she’s apart of their community and they really care.”
