Martin, Santora Help GVSU Softball advance in NCAA Regional

ALLENDALE, Mich — GLIAC Player of the Year Katie Martin drove in 3 runs and Hannah Santora threw 7 shutout innings as Grand Valley topped Missouri-St. Louis 4-0 Saturday at the Laker Softball Field.

GVSU (41-6) advances to the championship round of the Midwest Regional on Sunday at noon.  UMSL (40-12) will play again at 4 P.M. Saturday against the winner of Ferris State and Southern Indiana.

Martin broke a scoreless tie in the top of the 3rd inning with a 2-run home run, her 18th round tripper of the season.  Martin also added an RBI triple in the top of the 7th inning to make the score 4-0.  Emily Jones hit her 6th home run of the season leading off in the top of the 4th inning.

Santora (23-2) allowed just 3 hits while walking 2 and striking out 3.
