3 Hospitalized After Sunday Crash

HASTINGS, Mich. – A car hit a tree on M-43 southwest of Hastings, sending the three occupants to the hospital.

The crash took place around 4 p.m. near Podunk Road in Rutland Township. The highway was closed for more than two hours as Michigan State Police investigated.

The car was driven by Derrick McElhaney, 23, of Delton. Corey Justice, 24, of Clarksville, and Faith Allen, 21, of Lake Odessa, were also in the car. All three were hospitalized; Allen was airlifted to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

While the cause of the crash has not been released, investigators said none of the people in the car were wearing seatbelts.

    This accident just makes me sick! Words can not even describe how sorry I am 4 Faith & her ENTIRE family, blood or not!!! I loved u like my own family girl & Iknow that we r all heartbroken about the entire thing… Love, hugs, & prayers 2 all of our families that r affected by this tragic day!

    You know I don't know why there has not been any other news on this tragic accident and that Faith passed away. I'm sorry to all involved and it breaks my heart that this little girl was lost so soon.
