GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- It’s a place that serves the downtown Grand Rapids area, by allowing “neighbors”, many who might be homeless or have mental illness, come release their emotions through art.

Heartside Gallery & Studio, 48 S. Division, provides supplies, working space and inspiration for men and women, while also doubling as a gallery. The facility now needs your help to raise $6,000 by May 16 for a  new commemorative book called “An Irregular Heartbeat”, honoring artists, , artwork and history from the last 20 years.

“It is a life goal of mine to ensure the book is printed from the Gallery,” Sarah Scott, Arts Coordinator said. “I know that many artists share my sentiment as the Gallery has become the place of refuge, growth and love.”

Online website,Kickstarter, is a fundraising tool where people can contribute to the campaign. For example, someone who gives $10 will be given a handmade postcard made by an artist from the studio while $130 will get them a postcard, signed copy of the book, their name printed in the book as a sponsor and a complimentary book.
