According To Death Certificate: Woman Died Of Accidental Drowning

mary torngaWYOMING,Mich. — A Grandville  woman who went missing in April and was found in the grand river days later, died by drowning according to the Kent County death certificate.

According to the death certificate the manner of death is listed as Accident. The medical examiner also listed  a contributing factor as acute ethanol toxicity.

Wyoming Police Capt Kim Koster tells Fox 17 that the case is still under investigation.

Tornga was last seen just off the Market Avenue exit on westbound I-196 around 1am April 14. Police say she and her husband were coming home from a party in Grand Rapids. They were having an argument when they pulled over and Tornga got out of the car.

Investigators say two kayakers reported seeing a body in the water around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday April 16th.

The body that was pulled out of the water was confirmed that it was the body of Mary Tornga  Wyoming Police Capt. Kim Koster said.

Tornga’s body was recovered in Wyoming – just over a mile from the Market Avenue exit.

Tornga was married for 24 years to her husband, Greg. They had a grown daughter together.

The case is still under investigation.
