GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — The West Catholic baseball team took two games from OK Bronze rival Greenville on Tuesday afternoon by scores of 2-1 and 5-0.  The Falcons are now 11-3 in league play tied with Northview for 1st place, both teams have 1 league game remaining.

In game 1, Greenville scored 1st on sacrafice fly from Nick Reamer in the top of the 4th inning.  West tied the game in the bottom of the 6th when Brad Burns executed a bases loaded suicide sqeeze to tie the game at 1.  West won the game in the bottom of the 7th after Mark Buitendyk led off with a double, Luke Brechting laid down a sacrafice bunt, the throw to 1st was wild and Buitendyk scored the game winning run.  Both starting pitchers were very good, Nick McNamara went the distance on the hill for the Falcons earning the win, Travis Groom was equally as good for the Yellowjackets in the loss.

In game 2, West Catholic scored 3 runs in the 1st inning and rode the pitching of Mitch Miklosi for the win.  Miklosi went the distance for the win, Greenville starter Matt LeBlanc settled down nicely after the 1st inning but was charged with the loss.

The Falcons and Yellowjackets will wrap up their 3 game series Wednseday in Greenville, a West win would assure them no worse than a share of the Bronze title.  Northview will play Cedar Springs, the Redhawks are winless in conference play this season.

West Catholic will head to Detroit on Thursday to play a non-league game with Saginaw Nouvel at Comerica Park, the home of the Detroit Tigers.
