Woman Fights Off Attacker After Her Car Breaks Down

GRPD-Grand Rapids Police Cruisers-dayGRAND RAPIDS,Mich. —  Grand Rapids Police responded to the report of a 25-year-old female who had been physically assaulted in the City of Grand Rapids.

The woman told police that at approximately 7:30 in the morning on Friday she was driving in the 2000 block of East Castle Dr SE when she began to have trouble with her vehicle. She then parked her vehicle in a nearby lot in the area.

While in the lot a man  drove by offering her a ride, which she declined.  The man then approached the woman on foot and again attempted to engage her in a conversation, which she declined.  The woman then attempted to walk away from the man and when doing so the man physically assaulted her and attempted to remove her clothing.  The woman fought the man off and ran to a safe location.

Police are looking for: 

  • A Black four door car. The car was described as being in decent condition and having a similar body style to a Mercury Sable or Ford Taurus.
  •  An African-American male  possibly in his 30’s. Standing  5 ft 8″ – 5ft 10″, Medium Build, with a mustache and closely trimmed beard, wearing a black short sleeve T-shirt, dark pants or jeans, and a dark baseball cap with a red “Polo” horse emblem on the front.
