TAMPA, Fla. – There is a program based out of Florida that helps fund the education of children whose parents die during military service.

It’s called the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

The program pays for the college education of such children when they come of age. Since 1980, more than 200 students have graduated from college, thanks to the foundation. Another 140 or so are currently enrolled at colleges and universities around the country, and more than 700 are in the pipeline.

The foundation’s gift is a grant, not a loan. Their graduation rate is 98 percent.
