BYRON CENTER, Mich. — A crash involving at least three semis and possibly as many as a dozen other vehicles blocked the northbound lanes of US-131 around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers arriving on scene early described both northbound lanes of the expressway blocked under 84th Street.

Michigan State Police tell FOX 17 News on the scene that there were 11 vehicles involved, 3 of which were semi trucks.

Investigators say there was already a slow down on northbound U.S. 131 due to a two-car crash near 76th Street.  At some point, some of the vehicles began to suddenly slow down, then slide on the highway causing a the chain-reaction crash.  An MSP trooper said there was light mist in the area at the time.

Tow trucks could be seen hauling away the vehicles involved.

The freeway is expected to be back open at 1:45pm.  Nobody was seriously hurt.
