Carson City Frontier DaysCARSON CITY, Mich. — (FOX 17) It’s a celebration forty years in the making and this weekend makes it forty-one. Carson City Frontier Days begin Thursday and run through the weekend. All of the family fun is free including inflatables, a duck race, movie night and even a hot air balloon race.

Tami Tasker grew up in Carson City and now is giving back to her community by helping plan the event that she has enjoyed her whole life. One of the events she was happy to help bring back was the hot air balloon race.

“It started as a bicentennial celebration here and it has just continued, this is our Eighth Annual Hot Air Balloon Shoot Out where we’ll feature fifteen balloon pilots this year, we used to do a lot of ballooning twenty years ago but around eight years ago we were able to get it back.”

But it’s not just about balloons, Friday night is free movie night, The Lorax will be playing at the balloon launch field and the first thirty kids will get a special prize. Saturday is kids Health and Safety day where kids can learn all about safety and even see the University of Michigan med-flight.

Events are rain or shine but many of the events have secondary rain locations. If you are interested in the full list of activities and rain locations you can find them here: www.carsoncityfrontierdays.com
