060113SEVERE(WEST MICHIGAN) — (FOX 17) The threat for severe storms in West Michigan today is continuing to become less of a threat. A few showers and thunderstorms will continue to move through the area this morning but will likely stay below severe criteria. The threat for severe weather Saturday afternoon and evening is also becoming less likely as the system that is forecast to move through the area is weakening.

There is still a chance for showers and thunderstorms to develop in the late afternoon and early evening hours, however the main risk for severe weather will stay along and south of I-94 to the Indiana border. Main threat from storms Saturday will be heavy rains which could cause flash flooding, gusty winds and small hail.

Moisture will still be abundant so expect a muggy day as temperatures stay in the mid to upper 70’s. A cold front will move through late Saturday and early Sunday dropping temperatures and bringing in some drier air for the start of the work week.
