MICHIGAN- Former Michigan Secretary of State and Grand Rapids Native, Terri Lynn Land has announced plans to run for U.S. Senate. She is the first prominent Republican to throw her name in the hat for that position, which is being vacated by Senator Carl Levin.
Land made that announcement on her Facebook page Monday morning, saying that she’s currently putting together a campaign strategy and a policy team for her run, and that she’ll be filing the appropriate paperwork by July 1.
Also in the running for the Senate seat is Democrat Gary Peters. So far, Republicans Mike Rogers from Brighton and Justin Amash have not confirmed they are running for the position.
