Experience 18th Century Life in Grand Haven This Weekend

GRAND HAVEN, Mich.-  More than 200 re-enactors will make life back in the 18th Century come to life on Harbor Island in Grand Haven this weekend. Feast of the Strawberry Moonportrays the life of voyageurs, fur traders, period artisans and the military when fur trading was the main industry.

The time period reflected will be between 1760-1820 when Grand Haven was the primary trading post for John Jacob Astor’s American Fur Company.

From 9 a.m. to 5p.m. on Saturday, June 8 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 9 for a cost of $5 each or $15 for a family of 4, visitors can stroll through the camps, amidst people in period style clothing, see how pottery is made, a blacksmith in action and even a military skirmish.  There is also a one room school-house, 18th Century music, food and The Langlade Arms Tavern which features a selection of regional brews.  Tavern entertainment will also be provided by Lee Mulder.

Crowds will be wowed by the Amazing Budabi Brothers, who juggle a variety of items and “The Wacky Chicken Show”, a vaudeville-styled act.
