PortraitLANSING, Mich. — The number of land lines in the state has reached an all-time low and now make up just 25% of the total phone market, a new report from the Michigan Public Service Commission released Monday says.

According to the report, there were 3.078 million land lines registered in 2012, dropping about 266,000 from the same 2011 report.  Of those land lines, AT&T services 52 percent of them, with the second closest company being Frontier with 10.6 percent.

The annual study is used primarily to survey competition among land line providers, though it did state that there were roughly 9.25 million mobile users in the state.
