A fully armed man standing on a street corner near Cloverfield and Olympic boulevards fired on multiple vehicles, including a bus, the California Highway Patrol confirmed.

Santa Monica police confirmed there was also an emergency at the school on 1900 Pico Blvd., but did not confirm details of a shooting.

The college was placed on lockdown, according to Santa Monica College officials.

Students on campus were asked to stay out of open spaces, stay in doors, lock all doors and not open the doors until they receive an all clear from college officials.

Three people were wounded in the shooting, law enforcement sources told The Los Angeles Times.

The incident took place not far from where President Barack Obama’s motorcade passed through Santa Monica, but sources said the shooting appears to be unrelated to his visit..
