WEST MICHIGAN – As the attached snapshot indicates, areas along and south of I96 remain in a slight risk of severe weather on Wednesday, Wednesday evening, and Wednesday night. The primary threats (if we see them) would be large hail and strong damaging winds.

Our forecast models are indicating the possibility of storms developing to our west, then dropping south and east into southwest lower Michigan. It appears as if most of them would be from Grand Rapids to the south and west. In fact, these same forecast models are also showing the potential for some heavy rain as these storms may train across the same area for a few hours. Two inches or more will be possible across our southern counties.

The focal point for these storms is a stalled frontal boundary that will be just south and west of the state. We are anticipating storms to develop and fire along and north of the front well outside of Michigan, then drop south and east (and ride along the front) through Wednesday and Wednesday night. Things could change so make sure to stay up on later forecasts
