DETROIT, Mich- The auto industry is getting ready to go on a major hiring spree, with thousands of those positions coming to Michigan.
Ford expects to hire about 2,000 salaried workers in positions like technology, product development and manufacturing. They’re also recalling 2,000 laid-off employees in Michigan and Missouri.
GM plans to hire 4,000 engineers and computer professionals in four different states including Michigan. Chrysler is hoping to add 3,500 people to its factories.
Industry analysts say that vehicle sales for 2013 could reach up to 15 million, the highest it’s been in six years.
The majority of these new jobs are expected to pay about $16 an hour and will go fast.
