KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Thousands of people woke up in the dark on Tuesday morning, in a power outage that crews continue to investigate.
The outage happened overnight along a busy area of 28th Street in Grand Rapids and Wyoming. Consumers Energy reports that more than 3,800 customers were affected in Kent County, with more than 40 others in Ionia County.
As of 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, there was no clear indication of a cause, and no word on when the power would be restored.
**Update – 7:00 a.m.**
Power started being restored before 7:00 a.m. with just a few sporadic outages left. It is still unclear what caused the outage.
