MARQUETTE, Mich- It’s been nearly a century since The Henry B. Smith sank in Lake Superior, and now, a team of hunters believe they found the wreckage near Marquette.
WLUC reports that researchers found a ship in the waters this Memorial Day weekend. Now, they’re hoping to confirm it’s the Smith.
The iron ore carrier was heading to Cleveland back in 1913, when a storm hit. The Smith, along with several other ships sank into the water.
This summer, researchers plan to explore the wreckage more and analyze underwater footage of the ship.
