Update: Ottawa County Woman Dies After Car-Bike Accident

bike_accident_genericOTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — An Ottawa County woman has died following a Thursday night accident with a car at 104th Street and Riley Street in Holland Township.

Barbara Roels, 51-years-old, of Holland Township was biking through the crosswalk of Riley Street when she was stuck by a car. The vehicle was driven by 35-year-old Kelly Briggs of Zeeland. Authorities say that Briggs ran the stop sign at the intersection. The accident happened around 7 p.m.

Roels was taken to Holland Hospital and then transferred to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, where she died of her injuries.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department are still investigating the accident.
