HOLLAND, Mich.– Nearly forty cars and businesses have been broken into across Ottawa County in the last month and police say they could be related.

They’re happening around the north end of Holland and Park Township, centered around US-31 and Riley but three more were just reported Thursday in Holland off Chicago Drive.

Detectives from Holland Public Safety, investigators from Zeeland and the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department all met Friday to try to find some answers.  During Thursday’s break-ins the thieves got away with some petty cash from Engelman’s Nursery and tried to steal a safe from Engedi Church but didn’t get far with it.

Lt. Mark Bennett with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s department says  they are looking for help from the public. Bennett says they are looking for three suspects that strike between 4 and 6 a.m.  They break in right through the front door and head straight for the cash register or safes.

“It is frustrating and that’s why we need the help from the eyes and the ears of the public. Somebody hears something, somebody sees something, there isn’t much traffic moving at that time of the morning,” he said.
