Meijer State Games Of Michigan Wrapping Up

WakeGRAND RAPIDS, Mich-The Meijer state games are in the books and once again they came off as a huge success. Organizer Eric Engelbarts says the turnout went beyond expectations as more than 6500 athletes participated in this years Olympic style games.

The financial inpact is expected to be over 2 million dollars for the week-end and the next goal is even higher. “we hope to get to 10,000 athletes participating and then set out sites on 15 or 16 thousand in the future”, said Engelbarts.

34 different sports were represented in this years games.

    This was such a positive event that impacted our community and had such spirit. The news organizations had a great opportunity to showcase a local event the ENTIRE weekend, but we never heard about it. Instead it was all about shootings, hit and runs, and non-local, negative news. Way to drop the ball!
