Storms Knock Out Power

CASSOPOLIS, Mich. — Widespread power outages were reported in the Niles and Three Rivers areas after storms moved through Michigan’s border counties near Indiana.

That area is served by Midwest Energy Cooperative and another utility. MEC reported about 3,500 of their customers still had to electricity as of 4:15 a.m..

Towns like Three Rivers, Jones, Vandalia, and Edwardsburg saw a lot of downed trees and power lines.

Later in the morning, power was lost for nearly 600 Consumers Power customers in Allegan County in the townships of Lee, Casco, Valley, and Cheshire, all southeast of Allegan.
