Teen Pleads Guilty to Kent County Bus Stop Robbery, Rape

courtKENT COUNTY, Mich. — The 16-year-old involved in the September 2012 robbery and rape of a young woman at a bus stop by John Ball Park Zoo pleaded guilty to the crimes Monday, according to officials at Kent County Court.

Felipe Lopez-Velasquez pleaded guilty  to one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of unarmed robbery.  He could face life in prison when he is sentenced Aug. 15.

Lopez-Velasquez is one of two people involved in the assault and rape of the young GVSU student.  An unidentified 14-year-old is currently serving five years in juvenile detention for the crime.
