GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Investigators have identified a body that was discovered on the train tracks near Bridge Street and Seward Avenue in Grand Rapids.
The original call came in to the police department at around 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The caller had reported a person was lying across the tracks. Upon arrival, police found a man had been struck by a train, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 48-year-old Joseph Black. It is not clear why he had been on the tracks.
The incident remains under investigation.
