Body Found On Train Tracks

train bodyGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. —  Investigators have identified a body that was discovered on the train tracks near Bridge Street and Seward Avenue in Grand Rapids.

The original call came in to the police department at around 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday.  The caller had reported a person was lying across the tracks.  Upon arrival, police found a man had been struck by a train, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 48-year-old Joseph Black.  It is not clear why he had been on the tracks.

The incident remains under investigation.

    Heard the tragic news this afternoon:,-( I can’t believe it. My job has me on the west side tuesdays, wednesdays & fridays. That’s how I came to know joe black, almost 6 years ago. He was without a doubt an awesome human being, the nicest guy ever. Anyone that has ever met joe will tell you so. I last saw joe a week ago. Never imagined it would be the last time… RIP Joe Black. You will forever be missed by all who knew you. Your smile will never be forgotten. You were my friend.
