750px-MarijuanaPAW PAW, Mich. — Several kids in Paw Paw discovered 50 marijuana plants in a cornfield while out picking cherries with their father Wednesday.

The family called shortly after 10 p.m. July 10 to report their discovery in the 46000 block of County Road 380, according to Lt. Robert Kirk of the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.

Kirk said that it’s fairly common for growers to pull up corn and plant marijuana to take advantage of the farmer’s irrigation and fertilizer.  He said that deputies dug up the plants and that they will be destroyed.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office at 369-657-3101.
