7 VFW Rifles Missing in Fruitport

user25165-1374870586-media1_ffffff_240_165_PrsMe_FRUITPORT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police in Fruitport Township are searching for seven honor guard ceremonial rifles that have gone missing from the local VFW,

According to a police press release, the VFW reported the guns missing at 9:40 a.m. Friday.  They said that the rifles fell off of the back of atruck in the airea of Airline HIghway and Sheridan Road.  Witnesses observed tow men in a different vehicle stop and pick the rifles up.

The guns are Springfield M-1 Garand .30 Caliber rifles (pictured on the left), which police say are only equipped to shoot blanks.  They are primarily used for military funeral services.
