West Michigan Jeweler Pleads Guilty to $260,000 Tax Fraud

Court-gavel-and-justiceGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 59-year-old jeweler from Ada could spend the next three years in jail after filing a false tax report and failing to pay more than $260,000.

Michael Hoffman, owner of Hoffman Jewelers of East Grand Rapids, pleaded guilty  to filing a false corporate tax return for his business in 2007.  He has already paid the amount that he owed, but could still face an additional fine of $250,000 on top of his prison sentence.
