The Tigers Sweep the White Sox, Get Ready for Showdown with Cleveland

DETROIT, Mich — Torri Hunter didn’t start Sunday’s game against the White Sox, but he finished it.  Hunter singled to left in the bottom of the 12th inning giving the Tigers a walk-off, 3-2 win over Chicago Sunday at Comerica Park.

Migule Cabrera was not in the lineup Sunday for the 4th consecutive game, but he did pinch hit leading of the 12th inning, he singled and was pinch ran for by Matt Tuiasosopo who eventually scored the game-winning run.

Rick Porcello pitched 7 and 2/3 innings allowing just 1 run and left the game with a 2-1 lead.  Paul Konerko lead off the top of the 9th inning with a solo home run off Drew Smyly to tie the game at 2.

The Tigers finished their home stand a perfect 8-0 and now head out on a 10 game road trip that starts Monday night in Cleveland against the 2nd place Indians.  Cleveland has won 10 of their last 11 games and are just 3 games behind the Tigers in the standings.

Detroit recalled Jeremy Bonderman after Sunday’s game, Bonderman will join the team in Cleveland on Monday and be used out of the bullpen.
